Layout Construction Service

My first layout was built on a 4 by 8 sheet of 1/4 inch plywood and had no hills or valleys. It didn't last 3 months and I knew I needed something better so I researched proper layout construction techniques. I have built 7 layouts since then, each one advancing my layout building skills. As well, scenery offers many challenges and I have found out the hard way how to build convincing scenery (hills, rock formations, trees, rivers, streams, valleys, etc.).

Proper wiring is also important to allow smooth operation and I use lamp cord running under the table paralleling the track to achieve electrical contact.

I will build for you any of the following:

• basic layout (track, switches and bridges of your choice),
• basic layout with wiring,
• complete layout which also includes scenery, trees, railroad structures and city structures (warehouses, hotels, homes, etc.).

Locomotives, freight cars, passenger cars, automobiles and people are not included in any of the above scenarios.

In order to build your layout, an advance fee will be charged to allow me to purchase the required supplies. Cost will be charged per square foot and will vary based on the quality of track, switches, switch motors, wiring and the amount of scenery and buildings required. You don't need to provide any supplies, I will purchase everything required to complete your layout. Contact me to discuss your specific layout requirements and to receive a quote.
