Model Painting Service

I have been painting HO scale model railroad freight cars, passenger cars and locomotives for over 25 years. I use an air brush and compressor for all of my painting projects and also have a paint booth vented to the outside. I use a SurviveAir mask with charcoal filters which I purchased from a local automotive paint supply store.

For painting projects requiring masking in order to apply a second and third color applications, I use 3M masking tape, also purchased from the automotive paint supply store.

Although I specialize in painting brass HO scale models, I have extensive experience painting brass models, resin models and plastic models. As such I am offering the following service in any scale:

  1. Test run to ensure proper operation of locomotive,
  2. Disassembly,
  3. Thorough preparation by cleaning all parts to be painted,
  4. Painting,
  5. Masking and painting of subsequent colors,
  6. Application of decals,
  7. Clear coat to protect decals,
  8. Baking of brass locomotives or rolling stock,
  9. Re-assembly of model and test run to ensure proper operation.

Cost for painting varies with type of locomotive or rolling stock, number of colors to be applied and amount of decals required to complete the model. Weathering can also be applied but I would suggest minimal weathering as this can be a very personal thing. Contact me for a quote regarding your specific model or models.
