CNR Freight Images Although there are several freight locomotives and many freight cars on my layout, I am concentrating this page on products from Atlas, Bachman Spectrum, Funero and Camerlengo, Proto 1000, Norwest and Sylvan Scale Models. In these images, several locomotives including a factory painted Atlas RS-3, a Bachman Spectrum H-16-44 and a factory painted Proto 1000 C-Liner are powering freight trains through a rock cut. Bachman Spectrum produced a generic H-16-44 locomotive which I used as a starting point to produce an HO scale model of a CNR H-16-44. Many parts were added to the locomotive including those from Juneco, Miniatures by Eric, Detail Associates, as well as styrene and mesh. Funero and Camerlengo, Norwest and Sylvan Scale Models have all produced fine kits of Canadian prototypes. The Funero and Camerlengo freight cars I have built and painted include these CNR 8 hatch ice reefers with both plug doors and hatch doors. The Norwest freight cars I have built and painted include these CNR wood end bunker ice reefers. Sylvan Scale Models have also produced many kits, including 1929 single sheathed 40 foot boxcars, 1936 rebuilt boxcars and auto boxcars. Following are the Sylvan Scale HO scale models which I have assembled, painted and am utilizing on my layout. This is an off the shelf Proto 1000 kit of a flat car. For a load I have placed 2 Athern trailers which I stripped and repainted, then used Black Cat decals to approximate CNR trailers. I also removed one axle from each of the trailers as the CNR trailers only had one axle. |
