BGR Heavyweights
For my Canadian consist I have kit-bashed 2 "U" series 14 section, sleepers "Unicorn" and "Uranus". I used a branchline kit and the fluted portion of the Athabasca Scale Models sides as the basis.
I also have on my layout many heavyweight passenger cars which are products of Canadian manufacturer the BGR Group. My first BGR car was Thessalon, a 12-1 sleeper which was built by the BGR group and purchased by me as a completed kit.
Since that time the BGR group has produced kits with on piece bodies. At this time I decided to build the heavyweights for myself. I have now completed 12-1 sleepers Steelton, Torrent and Severn Falls, 8-2-1 sleeper Renfrew, 14 section sleepers Jack Fish and Gillie, 8 section 4 double bedroom sleeper Victoria, Buffet-Parlor Sleeper Lake Nipissing, Parlor-Sleeper-Observation Mount Norquay, Buffet-Parlor 6485, dining car Abergeldie and air conditioned coach 1457.
The following photos each of these passenger cars. I have also included photos of the interior and underbody of "R" series sleeper Renfrew.
Branchline Heavyweights
The following image is of a constructed Branchline coach. I was not happy with the color Branchline chose for CPR maroon so I stripped and repainted the model. I also took the opportunity to close one of the the end windows as on CPR coaches this location on the "B" end of the coach houses a switch locker.
